Travel fellowship application - The submission deadline has passed.

The 5th European Conference on Computational Biology (ECCB ’06) will provide travel fellowships to help students and postdocs attend the conference, which will be held on September 10 – 13, 2006, in Eilat, Israel.

NOTE: We intend to support as many applicants as possible. Unfortunately, because of limited funds, we will not be able to provide support to all applicants. Applying for a fellowship does not guarantee that you will receive funding – if you require a fellowship in order to attend, please do not register until after you have been notified that you have received an award.

Awards
Travel fellowships will pay for airfare, lodging, and conference registration. Fellowships will not cover affiliated expenses, such as meals, workshops, tutorials, the gala dinner, or ground transportation to and from airports.

Airfare: The airfare portion of the award will depend on your geographical location; the maximum amount that you will be reimbursed will be included in your award letter, and might be less than the cost of your ticket. You will need to pay for your airfare up front, and a reimbursement check will be mailed to you approximately three weeks after the end of the conference. The Conference Secretariat can help arrange your flights.

Lodging: The Conference Secretariat will arrange lodging for fellowship recipients, for the duration of the meeting, with two people per room. Fellowship recipients should not make their own lodging arrangements! You will not need to pay for lodging, but you will be responsible for affiliated expenses such as phone calls from your room.

Conference registration: Your registration fee will be paid for you.

Meals: Breakfasts will be included with your lodging and conference registration includes lunch, so most participants will only have to pay for suppers.

Requirements and procedures
Each applicant for a travel fellowship must satisfy the following conditions.

1.
 The applicant must present a paper or poster in person at ECCB ’06. Only the presenting author from a multi-author paper or poster may apply for a fellowship.
2.
 Important: The paper or poster must be submitted before applying for a fellowship.
3.
 The applicant must be registered in a degree program (undergraduate or graduate) or must be a postdoctoral research fellow at an accredited university or college at the time of the conference. Evidence of eligibility (e.g., a student ID card) must be presented when submitting receipts.
4.
 The applicant must register for ECCB ’06 shortly after receiving notification of the fellowship award. The deadline for registering will be included in the award letter.
5.
 Airfare receipts should be submitted at the conference registration desk by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12th, 2006.
6.
 The applicant should review visa requirements and make any necessary arrangements.
